Not sure if sailing is for you? Try it out with a Sail Canada qualified instructor. Following a safety briefing your instructor will take you through the preparation, basic sailing maneuvers, and return you to the dock safe and sound. This two-hour adventure will give you as much hands-on time as you wish.

This is the first formal step in the Sail Canada keelboat qualification program. On this course you will learn to sail safely as a crewmember on a keelboat of 6-12m, in wind conditions of 5-20 Kts, by day.
This course includes 2.5 hours classroom, followed by a minimum of 13 hours on the water. Instructor to student ratio is 3:1 offering lots of hands-on time.
No pre-requisites, students are expected to supply their own PFD.
Textbook, Alberta Sailing Association and Sail Canada Course Levies are now included in course registration cost.

This course includes 14 hours classroom, followed by a minimum of 18 hours on the water. Instructor to student ratio is 3:1 offering lots of hands-on time.
Following your training you will write an exam to demonstrate your mastery of the required materials.
No pre-requisites however students with little boating experience may find this course challenging. Students are expected to supply their own PFD, and basic sailing equipment.
Successful completion of this course can meet the requirements to charter a vessel abroad.

Join an all woman sailing excursion, trim the sails, take the tiller or just sit back and take selfies with your besties. After a couple of hours on the water return to shore to enjoy a glass of wine while you relive your adventure.

What you need to know
Bring friends or come on your own, 4 participants per sailing. No experience necessary.
We leave the dock at 6:30 - arrive 10 minutes prior for safety orientation
Raincheck policy - We won't sail if the weather prohibits - we rebook if possible or refund.
Where to go - we email you after registration with the address of where to board and where to park.
What to bring - soft soled shoes, sunglasses, windbreaker, sunscreen, water bottle. This is an outdoor Alberta experience, you know the weather ! Don't forget your camera.

The SLSC SailShare club owned boats available to share with no more than 8 other SailShare members.
How does it work :
- SailShare members must have minimum qualifications of Basic Cruising Certificate, or
acceptable experience plus a Proven Capability test .
- if you don’t have the experience the club offers lessons to get you qualified for the SailShare program
- Annual program cost is $400 (plus 5% processing fee) , plus a current membership in the Sylvan Lake Sailing Club
- Self-booking and unlimited access, subject to availability when boats are not being
used on Club events or Sailing School program events.
